Please don’t get me wrong. Anyone whose car has gotten torched might be really angry at me over this headline, and I get it.
The families of the National Guard and police who have been actually injured or killed in the conflict with cartels following the arrest and death of El Mencho, leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel have, indeed, been harmed. There will be people who die as a result of this conflict - most likely, law enforcement and people involved with the cartels themselves.
In Puerta Vallarta, the situation has been grave, with reports yesterday of armed men on motorcycles driving around (but importantly, not actually hurting anyone), and vehicles and stores being burned to the ground.
